FAQ


1. Who can participate in the Oasis: Social Plug-In Design Competition?

The competition is open to architects who have a valid membership of Indian Institute of Architects (IIA).You can register as an individual or as a team. However, at least one team member must hold an active IIA membership.

2. Can I submit multiple entries?

Yes. In case of multiple entries, separate registrations should be completed for each submission.

3. Is there a registration fee for participating in the competition?

No, registration for the competition is completely free for all eligible participants.

4. I am an architect who has just applied for the IIA membership. Am I eligible to participate?

Yes. During registration, please select the 'applied' option from the drop down menu and upload your proof of application with the application ID.

5. How will the submissions be judged?

Submissions will be evaluated based on criteria such as creativity, innovation, functionality, sustainability, and alignment with the theme of compassion.

6. Will I retain ownership of my design submission?

Yes, participants will retain ownership of their design. However, by participating in the competition, participants grant permission for the design concepts and ideas to be used for the project if necessary and for the entry sheets to be showcased by IIA.

7. Will I be able to have a site visit at Institute of Palliative Medicine

Yes, IPM will be open for site visits on all working days from 9am to 5pm. You can find the location from the official IPM website mentioned in the competition intro. If you are not able to visit the site, please find the detailed set of site photographs which can be accessed through a google drive link in the 'Work files for participants' section of the competition brief.

8. Will I be involved in the IPM masterplan development process in case of a winning entry?

No. The competition is solely focused on generating innovative ideas; the winning proposal is not intended for on-site implementation.

9. The provided dwg drawings and skp model don't seem to entirely match with the existing conditions observed during the site visit. What should I do?

The dwg and skp file provided are all based on the proposed masterplan formulated by IIA. You may design all spatial interventions based on the drawing and 3d model provided. As the proposed masterplan hasn't yet been implemented on site, the existing IPM campus may look slightly different from the work files provided. For the site visit, please take note of the existing masterplan provided in the competition brief and the key map provided within the photographs bundle.

10. I have observed that the URL provided in all promotions redirects to oasis.calicutarchitectscollective.com. Should I be concerned about the authenticity of the website?

The Oasis Competition is initiated by IIA Kerala Chapter and organized by IIA Calicut Centre(Calicut Architects Collective). As both organisations are collaboratively hosting the design competition, there is nothing to be concerned about the authenticity of the website as both oasis.iiakerala.org and oasis.calicutarchitectscollective.com are basically the same web addresses.
